Nearly 40 Christians Killed in ADF Attack in Komanda, DRC
7/28/2025 DRC (International Christian Concern) — The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) struck the town of Komanda in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) Ituri Province late Saturday night into Sunday morning, killing nearly 40 people with machetes.
Many of the victims were Christian, specifically members of the Catholic youth movement known as the Eucharistic Crusade, who had gathered for overnight prayer following the celebration of the silver jubilee of the movement in their parish. The ADF militants arrived around 2 a.m.
“They killed 37 crusaders who were present in the hall,” a local chaplain said. “Four managed to escape into the bush, six were seriously wounded, and many others are still missing.”
The rebels later set fire to several homes and vehicles, leaving the community in ruins.
The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) issued a statement on July 27, strongly condemning the brutal massacre.
