Indonesian Terrorism Unit Arrests 2 JAD Members
9/11/2024 Indonesia (International Christian Concern) — Indonesia’s Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terrorism unit arrested two suspected terrorists from the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) group on Sept. 4 in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara.
Senior Commissioner Erdi Adrimulan Chaniago, head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, revealed that the two suspects had the initials LHM and DW.
“LHM plays a respected leader in the JAD group,” the senior commissioner said. “He often gives Friday sermons with radical themes to the general public and group members.”
LHM also reportedly deployed some JAD members to participate in agility training in Bima, West Sumbawa, and Lombok Island. Meanwhile, DW reportedly plays a role in the cadre formation process. DW also conducts physical self-defense training and sea swimming to strengthen his physical condition in preparation for acts of terror, Erdi added.
During the arrests, the two suspects were found carrying air rifles and 15 books. Erdi emphasized that JAD is an organization that has been designated as a terrorist group. He asked the public to remain vigilant and not get involved in the network.
“This arrest shows that the terrorist group is still active and continues to try to add members,” he added.
Erdi also asked the public to be vigilant and to not send their children to schools that provide a radicalized education.
