Giving hope to persecuted Christians since 1995

07/11/2023 Southeast Asia (International Christian Concern) – My name is Ramdan, and I am a former Muslim living in a city where most citizens practice Islam.

Several years ago, I started working at a new company. I realized I had a coworker who had a different faith than me. We started becoming friends, and I learned that he was a Christian. Back then, I teased him by saying, “Why are you worshipping this human being, Jesus? For dying on the cross?”

One day, I was with my coworker when they started praying with some other believers. I suddenly realized I felt super comfortable in that environment like never before. I told my friend I wanted to go with him to church to find out how Christians worship and the stories about Jesus who Christians worship.

After attending church with my friend and studying the Bible and Koran, I finally decided to accept Jesus because it is written between the Bible and the Koran, “I am the straight path.”

One day a few weeks later, my Muslim family heard that I had been baptized. My family gathered to judge me and fire questions about my new faith. At that time, I didn’t know much about Christ I answered as best I could. I was slapped and beaten, and finally, I was driven out of my family’s home and told never to return. A few days later, my company fired me because I had changed my faith.

I remember a verse in the Bible “If you want to follow Jesus, you must carry the cross.” I am fighting for my life with my wife, who also accepted Jesus. We are keeping our whereabouts a secret, considering that my family is still looking for me and wants to bring me back to Islam.

I learned about ICC through a local church and was told that they could help me because, at this time, I was sick and in treatment and couldn’t work. I asked ICC for help to rent a house. Thank you so much to ICC, who helped me by providing funds to rent a house for one year. God bless you.
