05/05/2023 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – Finnish Member of Parliament Päivi Räsänen must once again return to court to defend her Biblical views of sexuality. Despite being found not guilty of hate speech against the LGBT community by a Finnish trial court last year, the prosecutors appealed and are seeking “tens of thousands of Euros in fines and… insist that Räsänen’s and Pohjola’s publications be censored,” according to ADF International.

Dr. Räsänen, a medical doctor, member of Finland’s legislature, and former Minister of the Interior, published a Tweet in 2019 in response to the Finnish Lutheran Church’s support of pro-LGBT pride event. Her Tweet questioned the church’s support of the event and included a picture of a Bible verse from Romans. Unlike many nations, Finland allows prosecutors to appeal a trial court’s “not guilty” verdict.
