08/06/2022 China (International Christian Concern) – On August 2, a preacher from the heavily persecuted Early Rain Covenant Church (ERCC) was taken away from the police for allegedly violating COVID protocols.

Two police officers from Longquanyi District’s Da-Mian Police Station came to Preacher Wu Wuqing’s home around 10:30 am on Tuesday. They took him away, stating that he refused to take a PCR test. However, his wife said she did not see any official summon notice.

Around 6 pm on the same day, Preacher Wu sent a message saying, “Thank you for your prayers. I have just returned home. They summoned me under the guise of violating pandemic [protocols], yet we all know the real reason behind it –

That is due to our faith. May God keep our hearts, so we can persist in what we believe. He is greater than everything!”

Preacher Wu has been facing repeated harassment from the authorities for serving at the Chengdu-based house church. He has been detained, his tires punctured, and the fire door outside his home chained in the last year alone. The authorities threatened that as long as he served at ERCC, they would continue to intensify their control and crackdown against him.
