09/30/2021 China (International Christian Concern) – A Chinese Christian man in China’s Shanxi province was taken away and shown an administrative punishment.

According to a prayer request shared on Twitter, around noon time on September 28, the local authorities took brother Niu Wenjie in Wenshui county away over alleged charge of involving in “cult.” Brother Niu refused to sign the administrative punishment and the police decided to detain him.

The police took his biometrics, height, and weight, as well as his mug shot. During the investigation, he was asked about his church and the coworkers there, but Niu refused to answer. Given the detention center was full, he was released at night on bail.

Currently, Niu is in a difficult situation, since he does not have enough support from the local church. In the last few months, churches in Shanxi have been cracked down by the Chinese authorities, with their leaders detained over trumped-up charges such as “fraud,” “illegal border crossing,” or “possession of promotional materials of terrorism.”

Please keep the churches in Shanxi in your prayer.
