09/15/2021 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – According to The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) at least 480 civilians were killed in jihadist attacks in Burkina Faso between May and August of 2021. Thousands of other people have also been displaced, pushed from their homes and lands due to the conflict.
NRC says that they believe that as many as 275,000 new people may have been displaced by the current violence. This violence is likely connected with the ongoing growth of militant jihadism in Mali. These extremist groups have been spreading further and further South and East into Niger and Burkina Faso.
It is believed that as many as 1.4 million people have been displaced in Burkina Faso in the past several years. Please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Burkina Faso.
