07/29/2021 China (International Christian Concern) – Knowing the importance of education to parents, the Chinese government is using precisely that to target parents with Christian faith.

According to Todd Nettleton, the spokesman for The Voice of the Martyrs USA, officials from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are targeting Christian children as a tool to monitor their parents. In addition, the government threatens Christian parents that their children’s rights to higher education can be at stake if they continue their religious activities.

“I [spoke] earlier this week with one of my coworkers who has been involved in China for decades … he talked about how children are being used against their Christian parents, and that’s happening in several different ways,” Nettleton told Mission Network News.

Officials ask younger children very specific questions about their parents’ church activity and pressure Christian parents regarding their older children’s opportunities.

“Children are being used, essentially, as spies against their parents. On the other end of the spectrum, parents who attend church are threatened with their children’s education,” he added.

Fearing that their kids will be brainwashed by CCP’s propaganda at school, many Christians in China have already started to send their children to schools or home schools operated by their churches. However, the government considers these facilities as illegal and often raid or disband the schools.

Ultimately, the CCP wants to ensure that the younger generation in China continue to receive education filled with CCP’s ideology and patriotism. Any foreign religion is seen as a threat to the hearts and minds of these students.
