04/26/2021 China (International Christian Concern) – One hundred years ago, Mao Zedong and two other men founded the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Early celebrations have started this week, and religious communities across China could choose to attend seminars, conferences, trips, etc., to celebrate the “most important event for the Church in China,” the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association (CPCA) said.

On April 12-14, over 50 representatives from all state-official religions came to important historical sites related to communism. The banner read “Love the Party, love the homeland, love socialism,” where events stress the importance of a state-approved church, with complete allegiance to the Party, to have a happy life.

According to Asia News, Catholic Bishop Ma Yinglin said that without the Communist Party, “there would be no New China, no socialism with Chinese characteristics, and no happy life for people today.”  To show genuine ‘gratitude,’ one Catholic church closed its doors on Easter to dedicate the day to the “glorious history of the founding of the Communist Party” and exemplify gratitude to the CCP.
