03/30/2021 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – Shocking images have been released showing the horrendous atrocities committed Monday night by Fulani Militants, who ambushed Ebonyi state, Nigeria, and killed at least 18 people.

“We are mourning, we are in serious mourning since late hours of Monday. Herdsmen invaded out communities and massacred our people. As we speak, 18 persons were slaughtered like animals. They macheted many of our people, burned vehicles, motorcycles and looted our properties,” a Egedegede Community resident told Blueprint News.

Among those dead was a Priest from the local Methodist church.

Daily Post Nigeria reported on Tuesday that the governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi, condemned the attacks and visited the bereaving families: “We feel so sad that this kind of thing should happen in Ebonyi, we feel so worried for our country Nigeria and we are short of words,” he stated, “We condemn this attack because it is capable of causing very serious killings, if allowed to continue this way.”

The Fulani Militia is the fourth deadliest terror group in the world and has surpassed Boko Haram as the greatest threat to Nigerian Christians. Many believe that the attacks are motivated by Jihadist Fulani’s desire to take over farmland and impose Islam on the population, and are frustrated with the Muslim-dominated government that is believed to be enabling such atrocities. On December 7th, The U.S. State Department added Nigeria to their list of Countries of Particular Concern for tolerating “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom.”

Please pray for peace in Nigeria, and for the Lord to comfort those grieving the loss of loved ones due to violence.  Please also pray for the perpetrators of this attack, that they will be blessed with knowing the truth of the gospel and accept Jesus as their savior.
