03/20/2021 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – Reverend Yohanna Gyang Bitrus of Shiyona Baptist Church was abducted on Thursday afternoon by gunmen demanding 60million NGN (almost $158,000) ransom, reports Daily Post Nigeria.

“The gunmen were said to have arrived in the community and went straight to the cleric’s house and whisked him away to an unknown location.” Wrote Priscilla Dennis of the Daily Post, adding that a local source informed the agency that “bandits stormed the area in the afternoon, shooting sporadically to create panic among the people.”

The incident, occurring in the Tegina, Rafi Local Government area of Niger State, has left family members devastated and searching for ways to raise the large sum of money for the pastor’s release.

Kidnappings in Nigeria for ransom have become a big business. Unforuneately, Christian leaders are often targeted for kidnapping for this reason. Please pray for Reverend Yohanna Gyang Bitrus, that the Lord protects him in his captivity and enables him to safely return to his family. Please also pray for the Reverends captors, that they will come to know the love of Jesus and turn away from evil.
