02/18/2021 United States (International Christian Concern) – The Biden administration has launched the White House office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships that will be headed by Melissa Rogers of who served as a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, a left-leaning think tank in Washington DC. President Trump was underway in retooling and reshaping the office during his administration.

One of the main pushes for the office in the beginning is to create resources dealing with COVID and make them available to the public. In addition to fighting the global pandemic, the office will continue to engage in some way with engaging the disadvantaged communities through global humanitarian work.

Rogers was a vocal critic of the Trump Administration’s approach and staunch supporter of President Biden. She defended Biden’s criticisms of President Trump several times and argued that Trump was too favorable to evangelical Christians.

Melissa Rogers is one of the authors of “A Time to Heal,” a report that celebrated many of the initiatives started in the Trump administration, such as the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom. The report made other recommendations that the authors believed would shift the approach of achieving greater religious freedom.

Although this is a positive step, it is still unclear how committed the Biden administration will be in advancing religious freedom on the global stage, following a Trump administration that treated it as a major foreign policy objective. If Melissa Rogers’ report is any indicator of the temperature, the movement is likely to shift and potentially slow down the progress.
