2/7/2021 Nigeria (International Christian Concern)- The Christian Post reported that on January 25th, 6 Christian Soldiers were framed, tried, and secretly executed by the Nigerian Government.

Emeka Umeagbalasi, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law Chair, told the Post that the men were framed when a Muslim colonel stole weapons from an armory and then blamed the soldiers.

“The government of today detests Christianity and detests the Igbo tribe,” said Umeagbalasi. “Nigeria is becoming like Somalia and Rwanda…with the government taking sides and backing the members of a particular ethnic group. That’s the situation. Even in the security forces, Christians are being targeted.”

The military has denied the claims of execution, but have yet to release the men to their families or answer to why they remain missing. A petition demanding a formal government response has been signed by 28 human rights agencies within Nigeria.

International Christian Concern is continuously monitoring the truth of these reports and will follow up with any additional information.

More Christians are targeted and killed in Nigeria than in any other country. Muslims hold a majority of government leadership positions, and attempts to Islamize the country are especially prevalent in the countries northern and Middle Belt regions. We ask that you join us in praying for the Lord to comfort those being persecuted in these areas, and for the government of Nigeria to protect its Christian citizens.
