12/21/2020 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – More than 300 of the boys kidnapped form the Government Secondary School in Katsina State Nigeria are now in safe keeping. According to the governor of Katsina State, most of the boys had been taken earlier this month. It is still unclear how many boys were originally kidnapped, with estimates ranging from 300 to more than 500.
The release of these 344 boys shows that the Nigerian military and government is capable of securing the release of victims of kidnap. Most of those taken in this kidnapping were Muslim children. This is the second mass kidnapping of students in a row where the government has been able to save the vast majority of the children. In both cases, the children were almost completely Muslim. Christian abductees have fared far worse at the hands of Boko Haram and other kidnappers. Leah Sharibu from Dapchi and more than 100 girls from the Chibok kidnapping are still in captivity. Despite this, the government has seemingly stopped trying to secure their release.
As we head into the Christmas season, please continue to pray for the many missing children in Nigeria who suffer at the hands of Islamic Extremists who desire nothing more than to terrorize Nigeria into complete submission. Also thank God for the release of these innocent students and their safe return home to their families.
