10/15/2020 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – On April 21, 2020, Christian human rights activist Mary Fatima Mohammadi received a suspended prison sentence of three months by the Iranian government. The sentence included a directive ordering Mary to receive a flogging of 10 lashes.
Over the past few years, Mary has come under significant pressure from the Iranian authorities because of her Christian human rights activism. Yet, she has persevered and continues to boldly raise her voice.
Would you please take a moment to pray for her, and other brave believers who are risking their lives to speak up for the oppressed in Iran?

I want to introduce you to an amazing woman in Iran, her name is Mary Mohammadi. And she is the only openly Christian human rights protester in all of Iran, involved in all kinds of protests over human rights abuses there. Her career, as it were, in human rights started when she was on a bus traveling in Tehran, she was criticized and attacked for wearing her hijab, her head covering incorrectly. So she didn’t like that. She went to the police station to file a complaint and you’re never going to guess what happened but she was arrested.
Well, Mary hates injustice and there’s something about that that really set her off and changed her course over her life so that now she’s really devoted her life to human rights. Do you remember that Ukrainian plane that was shot down in January? Well, thousands of Iranians took to the streets after that. They were protesting the gross human rights abuse, the murder of hundreds of people.
So Mary was involved in that group and she was arrested and then was taken before the judge. Now, strangely the judge spent a lot of time asking her about her faith and that happens every time she’s arrested. She’s targeted because she’s a Christian and because she’s a woman and she shouldn’t be doing this, right? So anyways, that’s always happening. Arrest after arrest.
At this point in her life, Mary has been arrested, has been sentenced. She has a criminal record. She’s been thrown out of university. And in fact, even on this latest case, she’s been sentenced to flogging. So she’s got a lot on her shoulders but she’s an incredibly brave woman. And I want to ask you to pray for her, lift her up, won’t you? Ask the Lord to fill her with his spirit? The only openly Christian human rights protester in Iran and the bravest woman in Iran.
