10/09/2020 Nagorno-Karabakh (International Christian Concern) –  A 19th century cathedral has sustained damage as the Turkish-Azerbaijani driven conflict continues in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Holy Savior Cathedral, also known as the Ghazanchetsots Cathedral, is part of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Children were sheltering inside the cathedral during the first shelling, and two journalists were injured a few hours later when the cathedral was again targeted. Azerbaijan denies attacking the cathedral.

Turkey and Azerbaijan have established a military partnership which seeks to reassert Azerbaijan’s control over a disputed territory that is predominately Armenian Christian. This partnership includes language which has created a climate of hatred towards all Armenians, including those living elsewhere in the Middle East. Turkey has provided Syrian mercenaries to Azerbaijan who have gained their skills committing genocide and ethnic cleansing against minority groups. These latest military activities follow a long history of genocide which target Armenians because of their faith and ethnicity.
