08/20/2020 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – On Tuesday, August 18, militants from the Boko Haram splinter group, Islamic State West Africa Province, attacked the Northeastern town of Kukawa. During the attack, they killed multiple soldiers, and injured others. According to Duetsch Welle, the attack was conducted by terrorists who arrived on 22 trucks, killed off the military personnel who were guarding the village. They were also then able to take more than 100 people hostage.

Some believe that this attack was meant to replenish supplies for the group as well as gain new soldiers for their cause. They often use those that they have taken captive and try to radicalize them. If they are unable to, then they use them as slaves, suicide bombers, or ransom them back to family or friends. Often, those who are taken by this group do not ever return to their homes or families.

Please pray for the 100 or more people that are now being held against their will. Also pray for the many families that have been devastated by this evil and brutal organization. Pray that the Nigerian government would be wise in dealing with the terrorists and that they would be able to end this insurgency as soon as possible.
