Missing Pastor’s Wife Sues Police for Alleged Abduction
02/13/2020 Malaysia (International Christian Concern) – One day before the three-year anniversary of missing pastor Raymond Koh’s abduction, his wife Susanne Liew announced that she has filed a lawsuit against several individuals in the government in order to find truth about her husband.
Susanna named two former national police chiefs, Mohamad Fuzi Harun and Khalid Abu Bakar, along with Awaludin Jadid, Huzir Mohamed, Fadzil Ahmat, Supari Muhammad, Khor Yi Shuen, Hazril Kamis, Mohamad Shamzaini Mohd Daud, Saiful Bahari Abdul Aziz, the present IGP Abdul Hamid Bador, the police force and the federal government as defendants in a civil suit filed on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday, Susanna said the civil suit was filed for “special and general damages” as a last resort after failing to receive any resolution from the investigations into her husband’s disappearance.
The suit alleges breach of constitutional and statutory rights for the abduction of Koh, failure to account or disclose his whereabouts, misfeasance in public office, and conspiracy to injure and negligence.
In a text to BenarNews, Susanna said, “We really hope filing the civil suit will help to unravel the truth about the abduction.”
She feels like she has run out of options to learn what happened to her husband in 2017. “We have no alternative but to turn to the last bastion of justice and truth – our judiciary. Only time will tell whether the truth will prevail and all those who perpetrated this heinous act against a citizen of Malaysia will be brought to account for the unlawful acts,” Liew told reporters.
Pastor Raymond Koh was abducted in broad daylight on February 13, 2017, allegedly by members of a trained paramilitary force. Last April, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) announced that the Special Branch, the special police intelligence team from Bukit Aman, was involved in the abduction of pastor Raymond Koh.
While a special task force was formed last June to investigate Koh’s disappearance, little progress has been made, and Susanna still has no idea where her husband is.
