01/17/2020 India (International Christian Concern) – Over seven years after the incident, four Indian men have been issued a death warrant for the gang rape and murder of a young woman in New Delhi in 2012. Their sentencing was announced in September 2013, but received an official sentence date on January 7, 2020.

Although this most recent sentencing shows that the government is pursuing justice for violence against women, societal levels of treatment or violence towards women has remained much the same. A group of Indian Christians are standing up and saying enough to this violence through an effort called Women of Worth.

They are committed to educational efforts to promote female dignity and to highlight God’s love for all and value of women. One member of the parent group, commented saying, “it’s these types of movements that are going to really encourage the population at large and show the Church is ready to be hands and feet to us”.

Attacks, especially towards Christian women, show the level of persecution towards these Indian women. Please pray for a society for a softened heart and knowledge of God’s love for His people.
