Giving hope to persecuted Christians since 1995

11/20/2019 Palestine (International Christian Concern) – After twelve years of seeking recognition, the Council of Local Evangelical Churches in the Holy Land has received official recognition from the Palestinian Authority. This is a significant step forward, as it allows the council to grant marriage licenses, register churches, and open bank accounts. They now have their full civil rights as an organization.

Local Christians are often caught within the challenging political environment between Israel and Palestine. As an Islamic authority where locals have restricted travel abilities, Palestinian believers are often forced to live within an environment where there is no opportunity for escape from persecution. It forces a delicate balance of life, which can often lead to frustration at the inability to fully live out ones’ faith without fear. The official recognition of the local evangelical churches by the Palestinian Authority gives hope for positive change to a community that is so often oppressed on all sides.
