Omar worked as a sweeper in the session court in Pakistan for eight years. In January 2018, he submitted an application for two days of leave, to attend a prayer festival in Karachi. When he returned to work, he was fired.
In addition, the discrimination brought him humiliation and stress. Omar’s sudden unemployment made it impossible for him to provide for his family.
Omar passed away in November 2018, leaving his family with no one to provide for them.
In March 2019, ICC provided the funds and materials for Omar’s widow, and the rest of his family, to open a small grocery store. The store will provide a steady, and dignified, income for the family to support themselves.
“We are very happy that God has arranged a means of income for us. I am very thankful to the team who visited my son’s family, extended condolences and shared solidarity action. I was very upset and worried about my grandchildren but since we have this shop now, I am sure it will change our financial condition. Thanks to ICC for their great cooperation and concern – God bless you”.
