04/17/2019 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, reported to the Voice of America that the Buhari administration has made great in roads on Boko Haram, the farmer-herder conflict, and other violence in the country. This has been a constant refrain by the administration, who has been trying legitimize its last four years of service.

Contrary to his statements that “the administration had performed well in addressing insecurity and the country is safer than it was in 2015”, the death toll in Nigeria has been rising in these conflicts. Boko Haram has been making a comeback over the past several months as they have been pushing the military out of bases. Fulani militants have continued the onslaught in Christian communities with many attacks taking place, especially after the 2019 elections finished.

It is this simplified and completely false narrative by the Nigerian Government that has allowed the fighting to continue to last for so long and continue to grow in deadliness. Unless they decide to understand that there are many issues still growing, they will never be able to bring about peace or protect their citizens.
