Bethlehem Nuns Prepare for Court Hearing

03/23/2019 Palestine (International Christian Concern) – Middle East Concern reports that this upcoming Monday, the nuns of St. Mary’s Coptic Church and Convent in Bethlehem are expected to attend a court hearing related to two men who attacked Sister Esther in April 2017.

The attack happened after the sisters were attempting to resolve the illegal occupation of convent property by a Muslim family. One female member assaulted Sister Maria. Sister Esther was traveling to the police station to make a statement regarding this attack when two men assaulted her car. A policeman was inside the car, and although he stopped the assault, he failed to provide an accurate account of the event during previous court hearings.

The attackers’ family has close connections to the Palestinian Authorities, and it is believed that this is why the judicial process has been hindered at every step.
