02/05/2019 Washington D.C. (International Christian Concern) – India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh has become a hotbed of persecution as the state topped the rankings of most persecuted states in India. The majority of religiously motivated incidents take place in rural regions where pastors are more vulnerable and serve as easy targets for Hindu radicals.
Rural pastors often run into legal trouble that could be avoided, simply because they are unfamiliar with basic legal procedures regarding religious freedom. Therefore, ICC provided a training for pastors and Christian leaders in rural India to not only educate them on the legal system in their community, but also prepare them for how to address persecution when it arises.
Pastors left this year’s training feeling equipped with “information to deal with persecution that we see and hear of every day.”
