10/21/2018 Myanmar (International Christian Concern) – In a recent visit to Kachin State, UN Special Envoy, Christine Schraner Burgener, met with officials and representatives for her second visit to the country to gather feedback on the current situation in the state.

Thousands of the state’s population, which is mostly Christian, remain displaced in the midst of an ongoing war between government forces and the ethnic militias. During the trip to Kachin, Burgener met with refugees and visited various communities in the area to assess the living conditions.

Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs claim that the “UN envoy observed the improvement of housing conditions for displaced people from the camp”,  people living in the area say that access to education, health and freedom of movement has worsened.
