ICC Note: Members of CAN led a protest in Adamawa State concerning the killings around the nation. Reports state that Bishop Dami Mamza, the state Chairman of CAN, is said to have encouraged the youth to be part of the protest that later was disrupted by the police as a result of miscommunication.
08/02/2018 Nigeria (PoliticsNGR) – Information reaching the PoliticsNGR newsdesk this afternoon reveals that Scores of Christians in Adamawa State were teargassed and wounded by the police for allegedly carrying out an “unauthorized” protest against Fulani herdsmen.
The rally was deemed needful by the youths who earlier learnt from the CAN state chairman, Bishop Dami Mamza while addressing a crowd of Christians at St. Theresa Catholic Church Yola that the rally was prohibited.
Bishop Mamza, accused police in the state of frustrating efforts to transmit a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the ongoing wanton killings in some communities in the state by suspected Fulani militia.
Bishop Mamza alleged that the police that ought to protect all and sundry without fear or favour, prevented CAN members from carrying on a peaceful demonstration to convey their displeasure against various massacres in agrarian communities in the state to the Presidency.
