On August 3, Al-Shabaab conducted yet another attack on Kenyan Soil. This attack targeted another police station in Mandera County. The attack led to the destruction of several cars and the death of 1 police officer. It also came only a few hours after another group of Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a bus in Lamu County near Witu town, which left 3 dead and many injured. As we get nearer to Election Day on August 8, more attacks are likely.
08/03/2017 Kenya (Tuko) – Heavily armed al Shabaab militants attacked Lafey Sub-county headquarters in Mandera County on the morning of Thursday, August 3. The militants burned two vehicles and made away with another and the driver of the vehicle.
Reports reaching TUKO.co.ke indicate one police officer has been confirmed dead following the attack. Mandera county commissioner Fredrick Shisia confirmed the attack.
Reports reaching TUKO.co.ke indicate the militants who were around 50 in number and they crossed from the Somalia side in three vehicles. Police and the military are said to be in hot pursuit of the militants. These comes just hours after another group of the militants killed three people at Witu area in Lamu County.
