While Christmas should be a time of peace and celebration, several countries in Africa are deploying additional troops in an attempt to prevent Christmas attacks.  Nigeria recently added 30,000 soldiers to especially vulnerable locations including churches.  Nigeria’s commandant general called for peaceful interactions between Muslims and Christians during this season. Continue to pray for a peaceful Christmas season for Nigerian Christians and that they will be able to safely celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.  

12/25/2016 Nigeria (Tribune Online): THE Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Muhammadu Gana has directed the immediate deployment of 30,000 personnel to man strategic locations nationwide ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

He also directed that all State Commands of the Corps should ensure adequate deployment to soft spots such as Churches, shopping centres, recreation centres, markets among others in their respective states.

Gana urged the officers and men of the Corps to ensure safety of persons and protection of the critical infrastructure and national assets in their respective states during this yuletide season.

He noted that criminal minded persons always take advantage of festive period to perpetrate nefarious acts.

The NSCDC boss enjoined Christians and other Nigerians to imbibe the exemplary life of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who came into the world for the good of all mankind and lived a life worthy of emulation by all people living on earth.
