ICC NOTE: Azerbaijan seems to be plagued by the government’s infringement upon businesses ability to sell literature. The issue in question is with religious literature. Previous stories in the past have had both private citizens and government officials intimidating business owners who sell religious literature. The only Christian bookstore in the country has had their fare share of intimidating moments from private citizens. This comes after a previous story reported a Christian publishing company won its ability to print Bibles and other literature after a 20 year battle with the Azeri government. The government continues to have final authority on what is deemed to be legally printed however.
11/4/2016 Azerbaijan (Contact AZ) – The State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations held jointly with the Interior Ministry in the Sabunchu, Nizamy, Nasimi, Khatai and Surakhani districts of the capital of the raids, in which shops were checked, selling religious literature.
