ICC Note: Christians in Nigeria decided to fast and pray last week for three consecutive days after the unrestrained killings and cult activities in the country. According to the participants, the prayer sessions were to ask the Holy Spirit to intervene in the minds of the youths and sponsors who terrorize the area. In the last decade attacks from radical extremists and other groups have disturbed the peace of civilians in Nigeria, which has contributed to the political chaos in the country.  Earlier this week, Boko Haram launched an attack where they gunned down eight Christians as they were leaving church, ambushed a Nigerian military convoy and beheaded a church leader with his son. These last attacks come after their new leader promised to persecute and kill Christians because of their faith.

9/23/2016, Nigeria (CBN News) – Nigerian Christians fasted and prayed for three days last week to stop rampant cultism among young people.

The prayer campaign began in Mgbuitanwo, a community plagued with relentless killings and cult activities.

Christians around the city gathered to pray “for the Holy Spirit to intervene and arrest the minds of youths and sponsors of the cultists, who are terrorizing communities in the local government area and state.”
