ICC Note: According to BBC reports from northeast Nigeria, multiple detonations have occurred with early reports of 54 people killed. Statements by Shani Usman, a spokesperson, states the recent attack reflects, “the high level of desperation” by Boko Haram in recent weeks. Boko Haram is a notorious persecutor of the Church in Nigeria, regularly targeting Christians for murder, forced conversion, kidnapping, and rape.

09/21/2015 Nigeria (BBC)– At least 54 people have been killed in three explosions in the north-eastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, police say.

A spokesman blamed the Islamist militant group Boko Haram for the attack on Sunday night. The group was founded in Maiduguri.

The police told Reuters news agency that a further 90 people were injured in the blasts.
