ICC Note: With previous reports stating the Nigerian military believes Boko Haram’s days are numbered, the confirmation that members of the terrorist group are in negotiations with the Nigerian government may support earlier claims. The more than 200 missing Chibok girls, who are mostly Christians, have been held captive by Boko Haram since April of 2014, and are believed to be the primary focus of negotiations. Early reports suggest President Muhammadu Buhari is willing to negotiate with various elements of Boko Haram in an effort to provide an outlet for those willing to lay down their arms and stop the violence.

9/17/2015 Abuja, Nigeria (All Africa) -The Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) has noted that the recent pronouncement by President Muhammadu Buhari that some members of the Boko Haram terrorist group are in negotiation with the federal government has validated its earlier revelation.
The Executive Secretary of CCC, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas (rtd), in a statement on Wednesday, said President Buhari’s revelation had validated their claim that Boko Haram had reached out to the federal government over the possibility of releasing the Chibok Secondary Schoolgirls abducted on April 14, 2014.
