ICC Note:  A landmine planted by al-Shabaab claimed the lives of 3 people near Lamu, Kenya.  The explosion also injured 6 police officers who were traveling from Garissa to Lamu, according to reports.  Since the commencement of Ramadan, al-Shabaab has killed dozens of Kenyans, especially targeting Christians.  In response to the upsurge in attacks, United States authorities are warning citizens against traveling to Kenya in preparation for violence likely to coincide with Obama’s visit to Kenya.

7/14/15, Lamu, Kenya (All Africa Press) – Three people were killed and six police officers wounded when armed group Al Shabaab landmine was targeted at Kenyan police car near Lamu. According to security officials the police vehicle was travelling from Garissa to Lamu at the time of the incident.

Security sources further said one senior police officer is missing and is suspected be taken hostage by Al Shabaab fighters after the explosive attack on their car.
