ICC Note:  Muslim Fulani herdsmen have srtuck again on Saturday, this time killing four and injuring several more in an attack at Dan-Anacha in Gassol local government area of Taraba State.  The assault on the rural Tiv tribe continues a long line of violence committed against unsuspecting agrarian Christians in Nigeria’s “Middle Belt”.  Although the attacks were blamed on retribution for the death of a Fulani Herdsman by a group of Tiv tribesmen, the accusation seems unlikely since the Tivs were displaced by the Fulani from the bush where the herdsman died.  The continued violence by the Fulani seems to increasingly cement notions that the Fulani are carrying out ethnic cleansing on indigenous rural Christian communities in Nigeria’s “Middle Belt.”

7/12/15, Nigeria (Information Nigeria) – Four people were yesterday killed by armed Fulani herdsmen at Dan-Anacha in Gassol local government area of Taraba State. About 20 people sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The latest attack is coming just five days after Governor Darius Ishaku read a riot act to traditional rulers in the state during a security meeting to ensure overall peace in every part of the state saying whoever is found wanting would face the full wrath of the law.

The Fulani herdsmen reportedly launched the attack to avenge the death of a Fulani who was killed in the area after being robbed of his motorcycle.
