On July 5, 2014, gunmen from Somali Islamic terror group al-Shabaab attacked the village of Hindi along the east coast of Kenya in Lamu County, slaughtering all of the men that were present and burning down the village. ICC stepped in to rebuild houses for 15 families, including four widows and the community’s pastor. Sporadic periods of heavy rain followed by drought have slowed the construction progress in Hindi. That hasn’t halted the resolve of Hindi’s residents or of ICC and its partners on the ground rebuilding the houses. By May 31, frames of 11 out of the 15 houses to be rebuilt were completed and the structures also had iron roofs. What’s next? ICC’s partners are working with the villagers to mix mud that will provide bricks and insulation for the houses. Please keep the 15 families in your prayers.
