ICC Note: As the Nigerian military continues to pursue Boko Haram militants and defeat the militant Islamist group’s strongholds, Nigeria has discovered videos Boko Haram recorded showing stonings, floggings, and other disturbing cries committed against captives. Nigerian officials have yet to release any of the material to the public and have refused to comment on specifics, but their general comments tell about abuse that is consistent with testimony from escaped and rescued captives.  Many of Boko Haram’s prisoners are Christian sisters experiencing raped. forced conversion, and forced marriage, among other atrocities.

5/11/15 Abuja, Nigeria (AllAfrica) – The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, has confirmed that troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered video recordings of the heinous acts perpetrated by the Boko Haram insurgents.

However, Olukolade refused to disclose further information about the crimes against humanity captured in the videos in possession of the military.

He said, “It is true that troops have captured some video recordings of the terrorists but I would not want to say anything on that for now.”

Olukolade also confirmed to an Abuja based media consultancy firm to security agencies, the PR Nigeria, that the videos recovered from the sect were being analysed by the military.

According to the consultants said as terrorists continue to scamper following relentless pursuit by Nigerian troops, they have often left sensitive materials including arms, ammunitions, ICT gadgets and video recordings behind.
