Each year, Open Doors, a preeminent Christian persecution watchdog and aid agency, releases the World Watch List, detailing the 50 worst countries in the world for Christians. This year’s list placed an emphasis on the radical rise of persecution across Sub-Saharan Africa, mostly at the hands of armed Islamic insurgencies, like Boko Haram in Nigeria (responsible for the deaths of more than 2,400 Christians) and al-Shabaab (responsible for several attacks that killed hundreds of Christians in Kenya alone over the course of 2014). 

01/10/2015 Africa (World Magazine) – Last year brought a rising tide of persecution against Christians around the world, according to a new report Open Doors USA released Wednesday.

Open Doors, a group that advocates for persecuted Christians, unveiled its annual World Watch List ranking the 50 most dangerous countries for Christians. North Korea topped the list for the 13th straight year, but conditions worsened the most across Africa, where eight of 12 ranked countries moved up the list.
