Boko Haram has shot and wounded Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo,  son of former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, in a battle over territory gained by the radical Islamic insurgency over the past few weeks. After declaring an Islamic State in northeast Nigeria late last month, Boko Haram has conducted a mass-land grab for Allah, leaving little more than blood, ash and heartache in its wake. Tens of thousands of Christians have been displaced by the violence and are in need of desperate help.

09/10/2014 Nigeria (BBC) – The son of Nigeria’s former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been shot and wounded in a battle with militant Islamists, the ex-leader’s aide says.

Lt Col Adeboye Obasanjo was injured as the army fought to recapture towns in north-eastern Adamawa state from Boko Haram, Muhammad Keffi told the BBC.

“Scores of insurgents” were also killed in the battle, the military said.

Last month, Boko Haram declared an Islamic state in areas it controls in north-eastern Nigeria.
