ICC Note:

Newt Gingrich, co-host of Crossfire and author of several books, wrote an Op-Ed for CNN explaining the common link between Boko Haram, ISIS, and Hamas: the establishment of separate Islamic states to be ruled by Sharia law. In July, ICC published a story exploring this same link between radical insurgencies across Africa’s 5-15 window. In Nigeria, Boko Haram has killed more than 1,600 Christians this year alone in its pursuit of a separate Islamic state. In the Central African Republic, Seleka plunged the entire nation into chaoes plagued by reprisal attacks launched on sectarian divides after staging  military coup and forcing a quasi Islamic state on the predomintaly Christian nation from March to December of last year. And in the Horn of Africa, al-Shabaab—Africa’s al-Qaeda—continues to force Sharia law oppressed Somalis and carry out acts of terror against innocent civilians in Kenya and Ethiopia and Uganda.

To understand why I link ISIS, Hamas and Boko Haram, consider the language of their own statements.

Why not take them at their word?
