08/05/2014 Sudan (One News Now) – The arrival in the U.S. of Meriam Ibrahim, a Christian Sudanese woman who had been imprisoned because of her faith, has put the spotlight on the plight of persecuted Christians worldwide.
While rejoicing in the release of Ibrahim, Cameron Thomas with International Christian Concern encourages believers to get the message out about the thousands around the world who are being persecuted for professing their faith in Jesus Christ. He says social media is a powerful tool to spread the word.
“You can tweet about instances of persecution to bring it to light,” he says. “You can bring it up in conversation with friends and families. You can go to your churches and try to get it on the agenda of discussion, whether that’s a short presentation during a sermon or an ongoing discussion in Bible studies. You can get people talking about these issues so that they know there is an entire body of believers beyond the Church in the West, and they’re facing horrible amounts of persecution that are increasing all throughout the world.”
