06/15/2015 China (International Christian Concern)– ICC received a list of 15 Christian churches in Pingyang County, Wenzhou City in China, that have received the notice from the local government to demolish the church crosses by the end of June. Among the 15 churches, 14 are Protestant churches and one is Catholic church. The anti-church/cross campaign have been spreading in different counties of Wenzhou City, known as the ‘Jerusalem of the East’.
When church co-workers asked local authorities for legitimate reasons for demolishing crosses. A local government official responded: “There is no reason. The cross is simply not allowed.”
To counter the urgent situation, believers from Pingyang County have united to start a 7-day fasting from today and they invite more Christians to participate in fasting and praying in the midst of the spiritual battle.
ICC will continue to closely follow the anti-church/cross campaign in Wenzhou City, China.
