Kazakh Christian Blocked from NRB Conference

When a well-known Pastor in Kazakhstan attempted to board a plane to the US with his wife to attend a religious conference, government agents intervened and threw them into detention, which is just “another example of growing government restrictions against religious freedom.”

Kazakhstan government agents have prevented a prominent Christian television broadcaster from leaving the country to attend this year’s National Religious Broadcaster’s conference.
Bishop Maxim Maximov, head of Kazakhstan’s New Life churches and founder of Russian language CNL-TV, will miss this year’s event.
Maximov said government agents removed him and his wife from a U.S.-bound airplane and then placed them in detention.
Kazakh Christians say Maximov’s treatment is just another example of growing government restrictions against religious freedom in their country.
