Christian Sentenced to 15 Years Hard Labor in N. Korea Sees Mother

Kenneth Bae, Mom Meet; Release Not Guaranteed

ICC Note:

A Christian named Kenneth Bae has been held in prison in North Korea for the past 11 months. Since August he has been held in a hospital due to his terrible health conditions. He was finally allowed to see his mother over the weekend and the two wept as they embraced. The short 90-minute meeting, though likely encouraging, did in no way guarantee his release.

10/14/2013 North Korea (CBN)- Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American missionary imprisoned in North Korea for the past 11 months, recently got a visit from his mother.

Bae was a tour guide who encouraged prayer for the reunification of South and North Korea. He was arrested last November and accused of “hostile acts” against the government. He is serving a 15 year sentence of hard labor.

His family said Bae suffers from diabetes, an enlarged heart, liver problems, and back problems.
