ICC Note:
Christians across Nigeria are hailing President Goodluck Jonathan for not giving Boko Haram total amnesty for the horrors the extremist group has visited upon Christians in Nigeria’s northern states. Would it be worth it? Peace in exchange for no justice?
3/10/2013 Nigeria (SpyGhana) – PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN (L) WITH THE SHEHU OF BORNO ALHAJI ABUBAKAAR IBN EL KANEMI DURING THE VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT THE SHEHU OF BORNO IN MAIDUGURI ON THURSDAY
A Northern Christian group known as Christian Awareness Initiative of Nigeria has hailed the president, Goodluck Jonathan, for rejecting the call for amnesty for the Islamic Terrorist sect, Boko Haram. We find this call extremely insensitive especially as the Sultan of Sokoto has not deemed it fit to spear head the call for the payment of compensation to innocent Christians who have been killed by the sect nor has he championed the rebuilding of the hundreds of churches that have been destroyed by Muslims in Northern Nigeria.
We also use this opportunity to hail Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for rejecting this call to grant amnesty to Boko Haram. Indeed Mr. President was right when he said “We cannot declare amnesty for Boko Haram because we cannot declare amnesty for ghosts”.
