Leaders in Nigeria are encouraging Christians to pray for peace in northern Nigeria. This encouragement comes after Christians were attacked by suspected Boko Haram militants on Christmas Eve. 12 Christians were killed in two separate attacks in northern Nigeria when gunmen attacked churches in Peri and Maiduguri. After attacking the churches the gunmen burned down both churches and Christian homes that were nearby.
12/27/2012 Nigeria (AllAfrica) – Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on Christians across the country to use the occasion of the Christmas celebration to pray for peace and security of life and property.
He noted that this year’s Christmas, like last year’s, came at a time that the country is going through challenging times, especially in the area of security of life and property.
He said Christians should not relent in prayers and devotion to the Almighty God for divine intervention and deliverance.
