The assembly that drafted the document is dominated by Islamists and the draft is full of hazily worded clauses that will enable Muslim clerics to challenge laws that don’t adhere to Sharia while empowering legislators to pass laws that could impose heavy-handed limits on religious freedoms. Thousands of Christians will be gathering to pray prior to tomorrow’s vote, Christian Today reports.
12/13/2012 Egypt (Christian Today) – Christians in Egypt are gathering today to pray for the future of their nation and their freedom.
A crucial vote is set to take place on Saturday over a controversial draft constitution, which Christian groups say does not offer adequate protection for religious freedom.
Thousands of Christians are expected to take part in the prayer event at Cairo’s Cave Church.
They will be praying not only for the present crisis, but for church unity and spiritual revival in Egypt.
