Muslim youth wreaked havoc in Mombasa on August 27, demanding revenge for the death of Aboud Rogo Mohammed, a radical Muslim cleric. Rogo, who was known for his support of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab terrorist network in Somalia, had been killed in a drive-by shooting, what some claimed to be a targeted assassination. Though Christians were not responsible, in the minds of extremists who followed Rogo’s teachings, it was Christians who were to blame.
