Beijing Shouwang Church Announcement on Outdoor Worship Service on September 16, 2012
ICC Note:
The following article is a regular announcement made by the Beijing Shouwang Church which has been meeting outdoors since April of 2011 when government authorities forced them out of their building. Members weekly attempt to attend the outdoor service despite the fact that several are regularly dragged away for questioning by police. The churches case has proved just little religious freedom actually exists in China.
09/20/2012 China (China Aid Association)- Dear brothers and sisters:
Peace in the Lord! On this past Sunday, we held the thirty-eighth outdoor worship service of this year. Beijing is enjoying a bright autumn, and the weather is wonderful. As far as we know, including the sister detained at a hotel on Friday, at least twenty-two believers were taken away from locations near the platform or from other places. Ten believers were released after they were taken away from the platform. The rest of them were mainly detained at Zhongguancun Street police station, and were released one after another before 14:30pm on Sunday afternoon.
We give thanks to our God. Last year, we held 38 outdoor services. And this year, without even noticing it, we have already had 38 outdoor services so far. When we started to hold outdoor service, we never expected that we would keep holding it for 38 weeks, not even to say another 38 weeks. Indeed, the LORD knows us; we won’t be able to persevere through such a long period of time without Him sustaining us with His might hands. Therefore, we believe that our LORD is still with His church, and is going to manifest His glorious work through our weakness. We pray that God will listen to our prayers in unity. We fast and pray: “Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” (Psalms 33:22)
