3/24/2012 Iran (Mohabat News) – The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom’s annual report on religious minorities’ rights says that pressures and attacks against Christian communities, especially evangelical Christians and their places of worship have increased.

This report, covering April 2011 to February 2012, says in its introductory section that the violation of religious rights as a basic Human Right is still occurring in most countries of the world. Regulations and government practices play a significant role in violation of these freedoms and, usually in addition to social discrimination, religious minorities are targeted with crackdowns, harassment and even violent attacks.

In the introduction to the report, which was prepared by “The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom”, pressure and the crackdown on those opposing the Egyptian government under the label of “ungodly ones”, and violent attacks against Copts, crackdowns on religious minorities in Iran, and violent and broad attacks against Nigerian Christians are highlighted as outstanding examples of the violation of religious freedom. The spread of the propaganda of Islamic extremism and Fundamentalist Islamic beliefs are still defined as the main elements causing religious conflicts in the Islamic world.
