Indonesia has been rapidly growing as a place of increasing persecution since the 1990s. While it does hold a stance of religious freedom towards four religions, including Christianity, the growing Muslim population and Islamization of the country has eroded preexisting religious tolerance and freedom. Sharia Law has been implemented in some provinces with a Muslim majority. Muslim influence in government has made religious freedom difficult to attain. Destroying churches, attacking and killing Christians, and other acts of persecution have continued with little to no punishment. Farhan ul-Qamar, a 20-year-old Christian man, was shot and killed in his home two weeks ago by a Muslim extremist claiming hatred toward both Christians and Jews. The incident is another example of the growing religious intolerance in Pakistan.

Gunmen abducted more than 100 people from the Mutunji community in northwest Nigeria for not paying a tax imposed by the bandits. A leader in the community was also killed, according to locals.
